But I digress....Internet Radio is the future of free speech for artists and broadcasters alike. With early programs like Winamp, people with little-to-no experience with computers could set up their very own radio stations and play music that THEY enjoyed. It was free, it was fun, and more importantly, it was unregulated.
During my initial time of exploration I happened upon a wonderful little gem called SomaFm.

Broadcast from San Francisco, SomaFM is a station that plays songs from all different types of genres. Indie music, goth/industrial, drone/clip-hop, ambient, Lounge, House, Trip-Hop, Indie Country, and even a mixed bag of holiday favorites are all available.
What I love most about this station is the surprise factor that it brings. You know what I'm talking about- you're working late or writing a term paper at the last minute, the music flows from one song to the next, then suddenly you find yourself listening to something that you've never heard before and may never hear again. That's what I love about online radio, it exposes the listener to music that is oftentimes beyond their reach. Depending on where you live you're sometimes at the mercy of the local on-air stations that cater to nothing but Top 40.
So anyways, that's my two cents. Check it out and let me know what you think. If you've got any other favorites, please enlighten me.
